Boston Bruins

Hello there!  I know, I've been missing.  Right now we are in the process of preparing for a move, so I cannot promise that I'll put much on here, but I do have something for you to take a look at in the meantime.

My friend, K, had a baby boy over two years ago.  Want to guess when I started making this?  Um...shortly after he was born.  Oh, yeah.  That's right.  It took me for-ev-er to finish this.

Mostly this was due to my tendency to start projects and then before finishing them start another.  Also it is because this is knitting and I've been on a crocheting kick...'cause you really care, I know.

I knew that she loves hockey and that she was having a boy, so I figured a hockey player would suffice.  Of course, then it took me forever to finish it...

I found and purchased the pattern here.  I then created my own chart so that he could be the appropriate team colors (her favorite).

As you can see, he's kinda big.  I made the circular logo on his jersey using crochet and I stitched the skate laces and shirt laces with a blunt needle.

Let's all hope that it won't take me two years to figure out how to get it to her...since we live halfway around the world and all.

Not the most interesting, I know, but I am glad that I finished it and just in case it takes me a long time to get it there, this way they can see it.

I hope to have some more posts soon!

Best Crafty Completions

I guess that I shouldn't necessarily call these my best, aonly because I hope that I will make more and better items this year.  I also expect that I will be making more hats, and I imagine that they will get better each time I make them as well - you know, that whole experience thing...

Regardless, these six items were made this month.  Once I finished the dress for Miss Thing, I began making some hats for my cousin's daughters.  She's got four of them.  They are the sweetest and cutest little people.  The two youngest are twins, so they get the fuzzy hats that have two pom-poms and are blue, pink, purple and yellow.  The older girls get the round bright hats with one pom-pom.

I figured that if the youngest had pom-poms, then the older girls would want one as well.

The bear that you see is made from the left-over yarn.  Miss Perpetual Motion has a "Teddy Bear Day" at her school later this month, and I am hoping that she will want to take this one.   As he is new, and therefore not a favorite as of yet, we shall see.

Oh, the tiny hat was the first one I made and since it is so small I think I will give it to a friend who just had a baby.  Hopefully it will keep the little one warm in these cooler temps.

I have no idea what I will make next; any suggestions?

Best Good Fast Food

And Best Too-Big Dress:

Maybe one day it will fit, Mama.

Hey, what is this thing?

I know! A ball!

And, THROW!

So it is too big.  To be fair, however, the pattern is for a size 2T.  As in not even an 18-24 month.  And since she is only 19 months old, and a small one at that, I think that it is just fine.  Better for her to grow into it than to be already out of it.

Our best fast food of the day is Jason's Deli.  It is one of our favorite quick places to eat.  We went there tonight, in fact.  Miss Thing had a hot dog sans bun, strawberries, apple, baked potato and some of the beef off of my sandwich.  She also ate two crackers and had milk.  Her belly was protruding just a bit afterward.  Good grief MaGee.

That is all; carry on.

Finito

The so-called infant pod is finished. Please forgive the baby doll in the above photo; I went with what I had. I made the pod to specs, inches-wise, and I must admit that I think it will be waaaayyyy long for a newborn mostly because they tend to keep their bodies all smooshed up

If the child wants to stretch his or her legs, however, it is long enough to accommodate that for an average newborn...which is a good thing I suppose.

Better too big than too small, yes?

Also, I am certain that there are some mistakes in it, which is to be expected when one has been driven crazy by the business of the present giving season.

Regardless, I am very happy with it and excited that I now have a rather unique gift to give people who have little ones on the way. I learned a few new stitches/cast-ons/seam methods with this project, and that is always good.

Carry on, people, carry on.

Newborn Santa Hat

Here are two photos of the newborn Santa hat. Forgive me for using Mr. Brown's cow, but I have no other model.

I made this one this week...began it on Tuesday or Wednesday and finished it Friday.

Hopefully it won't be too big on the baby! I made it smaller than the instructions, but we won't know for sure until he or she arrives!!

Next project to start is a cocoon/pod for the baby.

I Made This Hat Yesterday

Props to my model; she managed to keep it on long enough for me to take these photos.

Even if she did keep twisting it around on her head just for kicks.

The pom-poms were a new thing, but they came out rather well I think.

I am currently working on a long elfish santa hat for a newborn to be.

Hopefully he or she will enjoy it as much as Perpetual Motion appears to enjoy her new hat.

Knitting

This weekend I finished a baby blanket I was making for a friend:

It took me a little less than two weeks working on it a few minutes each day. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do when there's a little one in the house.

This Saturday, while M&M were here, I bought some yarn so that I could make a scarf for R-Shelly. M assisted me in choosing the yarn and we think it shall be fabulous. Now we just need to know what R-Shelly thinks about it. Here's what I knitted this holiday weekend:

The colors look better in person. The maroon is much more...maroon...and the orange is fuzzy and shiny.

So, what do you think?

How I spent my time on Monday:

A bit of it was spent making a couple of the following:

And the rest was spent protecting myself from the cuteness oozing from doggy:
